Monday, September 21, 2015 9:00am – 3:00pm Bob Hope Partiotic Hall at 1816 FigJoin American Veterans for Equal Rights & The County of Los Angeles in celebrating the accomplishments of LGBT Veterans here in LA County. On Monday, Sept 21 we will be partnering with SoCalGas, Supervisor Hilda Solis, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, Assemblymember Richard Bloom, Mayor Eric Garcetti, the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the California Dept. of Veterans Affairs and many other local officials and service providers to honor the sacrifices and accomplishments of the brave LGBTQ/A Veterans and Service Members. This will be the first ever LGBT Veteran Event at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall.

Operation: Do Ask, Do Tell serves as an annual gathering of the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs (Benefits, Cemetery, and Healthcare), California Dept. of Veterans Affairs, County of Los Angeles, American Veterans for Equal Rights (only Federally recognized National LGBT Veteran Service Organization), Local Service Providers & Employers to discuss the needs and services provided to LGBT Veterans in and around Los Angeles County. The event is designed to honor the memory of the old DADT law & those negatively affected during its tenure, while bringing the much needed resources to one location, for them to take advantage of in a safe and accepting environment.

Veterans Career Summit – July 14, 2015

Empowering our service members, veterans and military families with opportunities to lead, and thrive in our communities – July 14, 2015 8:00am to 5:00pm; location is the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall 1816 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015. Sponsored by Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti.

A Veterans Career Summit will be held on July 14, 2015 to celebrate the one year anniversary of the launch of “10,000 Strong.” The summit will aim to connect 1,000 veterans with career and business resources. This one day event will help job seekers and veteran entrepreneurs network with career and business experts, connect job seekers with on-site hiring managers, and provide valuable tools for veteran entrepreneurs to access capital, develop business proposals, and compete for government contracts. Our Meet-up Weeklong Event: Stand Guard Against Veteran Suicide

Stand Guard Against Veteran Suicide. Monday June 22, 2015 Veterans will walk Colorado Bridge to guard against Veteran suicide. Colorado Blvd Bridge, Pasadena, Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA

Each veteran standing post will be wearing a dog tag given to them by staff. This ceremony will be an on-going event, 24/7, therefore; by the end of the event there will be about 130 dog tags that represent all the men and women who committed suicide during that period. All dog tags will be placed on a field memorial. There will be supporting staff the whole time, RV’s, water, food, an parking. This is a community and military event. Together we can fight against veteran suicide. The local community is welcomed to watch veterans walk post on the bridge. We ask for your support at any capacity and please SHARE this event with your loved ones, friends, and strangers!

Military Women Leadership Conference, Glendale CA

Women Veterans should be setting the cadence for other women to follow. The Military Women Leadership Conference is designed to benefit the women veterans who attend with a direct learning experience that can be used and further developed. The day is long yet rewarding because we have guests from multiple backgrounds providing a breadth of information. Organizations presenting will include: The Verdugo Job Center, Employment Development Dept (EDD), Wellness Works, Calvet, Vet Hunters, World Financial Group, Millennium Momentum Foundation, EBV Consultants and Encouragement Center, and Volunteers of America. This day is designed to build confident leaders who will have the knowledge and hunger to share the information they gain. A representative from Verdugo Jobs Center will present a workshop about available free, short-term training programs for high demand jobs in entertainment, medical, administrative and IT / Computers – available for women veterans. She will also provide resume and interview tips, and information about special career resources available for women veterans at the VJC. There will be raffles and a gas card of $50.00 will be awarded to the veteran with the most guests! (must be vets). A Leadership Certificate of Recognition will be awarded to each participant who attends the full day ! The Certificate can be shown at your future job interviews. Come make connections, grow in self and professional development, and share your professional experiences with other female military women. Together, we can set the cadence for future leaders.
